In March 2026, the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program for Technical Building Solutions gathered its community for two online review sessions to look back on the eight circular pilots carried out in real building projects across Norway, Sweden and Finland. Across the two sessions, representatives from the eight pilots shared piloting results, key insights, and what it really takes to make circularity work in technical building equipment – and where the biggest barriers still lie.

Oslo site visit

In early February, we visited CapMan Real Estate’s large-scale renovation project at Sørkedalsveien 6 in Oslo, as part of the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program. The site serves as a ground for two exciting circular pilots under the program: 1) KONE and CapMan are modernizing five elevators by retaining and upgrading existing equipment instead of replacing everything. 2) CapMan and Staaltro are testing the reuse of cable trays, exploring what it takes to turn this seemingly simple component into a circular product at scale.

Welcome to the closing events of the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program for Technical Building Solutions! As the program approaches its conclusion, we are opening up the results and learnings from the eight pilots to a wider audience through two Review Sessions in March and a Final Event in April.

In November we visited Skanska’s development project in Stockholm as part of the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program. The site, a former hospital now being transformed into new housing and offices, is being used as a circular testbed for reusing technical installations.

Oslo site visit 

In November we visited one of the eight pilots in the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program: Enhancing Circular Economy of HVAC Systems, a project that focuses on the circular use of HVAC equipment, demonstrating in practice the feasibility and benefits of reusing HVAC systems.

On May 15, 2025, 70 attendees from across the Nordics came together to hear from case studies exploring circularity in technical building equipment, and what these case studies can tell us about the key enablers of piloting circular business models.

The final session of the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program focused on learnings for planning and preparing for piloting of circular solutions.

The third value chain session of the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program gathered on April 10, 2025, this time with a focus on the collaboration and partnerships needed to enable circularity. Over 70 attendees joined for another energizing look at the relationships already taking action on circularity, and to discuss the concrete tools required to make these collaborations a success.

The Nordic Circularity Piloting Program continued on March 6, 2025 with the second value chain session focused on designing circular solutions across the value chain for technical building equipment. With over 100 attendees joining in-person or online, the session was an inspiring snapshot into the ways of working and solutions already advancing circularity across the building value chain.

Over 40 enthusiastic Nordic building value chain companies came together for the kick-off session of the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program on February 13, 2025 to discuss the current state and future of circularity in technical building equipment. The session highlighted both the dire need for circular, low carbon solutions, and the great opportunities for future innovation and collaboration in the field.
